Program Management for nation building
As a citizen and as a business professional, it’s hard not to worry about the enormous development issues in this country. For me, it’s a challenge about thinking through the big picture. Here’s why you should be worried too: with the government spending over Rs.51,000 crore of taxpayer’s money on national projects, its time someone started asking the right questions:
* Where is the money going?
* How do we know if it’s doing any good?
Who is afraid of project management
I often find myself reflecting on the difference between people who meet abstract academic requirements for a PM career and the real world contenders that one encounters on live project environments on client sites. What comes to notice first is the skewed preference that organizations maintain for certified professionals. On the other hand, I discern unvoiced fears and unconscious fantasies related to a project management career.
PMO Outsourcing
The endeavor is to enunciate why an organization in India should considering outsourcing its PMO activities and the pros and cons of doing the same.
The principal driver for outsourcing any work and/or department in most organizations is to drive down costs. However, in the case of the PMO the need for outsourcing is more strategic for:

* JIT Project Management & Managing Standards
* Client Focus & Proficiency
* The Outsourced PMO models
